Although this happens, it seems we do not need to know much, simply that he has a blue eye with a film over it - what indicates he might be blind from that one eye (and that’s how the narrator can directly shine a light over it, without the man realizing) – and, as the designation we are given from the narrator states, he is old. The old man is a bigger mystery than the narrator due to fact that we only see him through the narrator’s perspective. Even though he states the contrary, he is indeed mad because he indicates to be so as the story progresses. He is nervous and paranoid and also weak – physically and mentally. Seeing the narrator does not describe himself to much, we can only analyze him through perceptions.
